CUPA-HR Selects Seven Individuals for the Association’s Emerging Leaders Program

Seven College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) members have been selected to participate in the 2023-24 Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders program.

The year-long program recognizes volunteer leaders from across the country who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and initiative within higher ed HR and want to play an active role in advancing the profession. This unique opportunity provides peer interaction and connection with CUPA-HR leaders as an integral part of the cohort’s learning experience. Participants engage in problem-solving work groups and develop deep networks with peers while gaining an inside look at CUPA-HR’s operations and structure.

Emerging CUPA-HR leaders are selected based on their knowledge, leadership skills, engagement with CUPA-HR and demonstrated willingness to advance higher ed HR.

The 2023-24 Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders are:

  • Andrew Horovitz, director of talent acquisition at the University of Colorado Boulder
  • Evan J. Jewsbury, chief human resources officer at Tulsa Community College
  • Becky Landry, director of human resources at Lone Star College System
  • Vivian Lee, associate director, human resources at Stanford University
  • Courtney McCarthy, assistant director, employee relations at Yale University
  • Christi S. Meggs, director of human resources at Northeastern Technical College
  • Patricia Wooten, human resources divisional director at Virginia Tech

“We are excited to welcome this year’s Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders cohort,” shares CUPA-HR President and Chief Executive Officer Andy Brantley. “These outstanding higher education HR leaders will spend the year engaging with and learning from CUPA-HR leaders from across the country. We look forward to the year ahead.”

The 2023-24 Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders Program will be led by exceptional current and past CUPA-HR national board leaders and national office staff, and the new cohort will serve July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
