Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders Program

Man raises his hand in professional lecture setting.

About the Program

The goal of the Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders program is to identify potential CUPA-HR leaders from across the country who have shown exemplary leadership and initiative within higher ed HR and want to take an active role in advancing the profession. Invited participants engage in problem-solving work groups and develop deep networks with peers while gaining an inside look at CUPA-HR’s operations and structure.

The Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders program is evolving! The 2025-26 cohort will complete the program in June 2026. After that, the program will go on hiatus until we have more details to share.

“I highly recommend the Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders program. Through my participation, I was able to engage in myriad learning opportunities that cultivated a deeper understanding of chapter leadership, service, and connections to higher ed HR leaders across the country. Highlights for me included attending the Association Leadership Program and the CUPA-HR Annual Conference and the many networking opportunities I was afforded. A defining characteristic of CUPA-HR is the openness with which its leaders and chapter members share their expertise, time and support. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity to learn more about CUPA-HR and make a broader contribution to the profession. I look forward to meeting next year’s cohort of future leaders!”
— Nicolas Heller, Director, Human Resources, NYU Silver School of Social Work

“The Emerging CUPA-HR Leaders program was an enriching journey that provided me with invaluable insights, connections and growth opportunities. I was able to develop my leadership skills and collaborate with a supportive network of peers. As a direct result of the program, I am proud to now be serving on the board of the CUPA-HR Southern California Chapter. I encourage any aspiring HR leader in higher education to apply to the next cohort – it’s an experience that will undoubtedly shape your career and leave a lasting impact on your professional development.”
— Ann-Marie Musto, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer, University of California-Santa Barbara
