Larry Farmer, human resources officer at Catawba College, has received the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2016 Distinguished Service Award. This award is given to a CUPA-HR member who has provided outstanding service to the association through constituent activities, such as service in governance or leadership roles, or through professional development contributions in support of the association. Thanks to the generous support of Kronos, CUPA-HR is pleased to offer a $4,000 contribution to Catawba College’s endowment or a scholarship fund of Farmer’s choice.
Farmer has served in several leadership roles in CUPA-HR over the past 12 years. He served on the board of directors of the association’s North Carolina Chapter for eight years, including two terms as chair. In addition, Farmer has served on several association committees at the chapter, region and national level.
“Larry has been a consistent source of leadership in CUPA-HR and truly cares about the association’s mission and vision,” says Deborah Benton who served with Farmer on the Southern Region board of directors and the national board of directors and who nominated him for the award. “He has demonstrated great leadership within his institution while consistently leading and guiding other HR professionals along the way, and he has dedicated much time and energy to further the efforts of the boards on which he has served.
